Goodreads import only partially works

Hi again

Sorry to flood the issues, just trying to get my head around this.

I've used the goodreads import and its done quite well but it's missed 1/4 of the books. I noticed they didn't have ISBN or isbn13 numbers so I updated the CSV. Same result

Can you see from the CSV what I mightdoing wrong?

I didn't read the blurb, I liked the cover, thought I'd give it a go. Certainly a heavy opening third.

Let's get the obvious out of the way. This guy has some pretty major problems that affect his behavior and perspective of the world. He has narcissist traits and is not altogether sorry for his actions. He struggles to make connections between his own actions and the misfortunes that come his way. He is particularly the result of childhood abuse, although he seems to weponizes that against others.

The good? I think he has more introspective capacity than some give him credit for. I'd argue he would do well in therapy, exploring what the hell is going on inside him.

Do I like him? Not really. I appreciate his honesty but I find him to have a huge victim complex. I think it'd be exhausting being around him for too long.

I've seen he's written another book about going to therapy. I'll give it a try maybe. 1 0

Firstly, I did enjoy it. There's a lazy quality to it, the story meanders in and out of reality and memories in a really fluid way. Her analogies are at a level of creativity I could only dream of.

One thing I did struggle with is how lyrical the writing was. Ruby Porter is clearly an amazing writer. There is no question about that. Some parts just felt more like a poem than a novel. That being said, who am i to decide where the line is. This is probably more of a reflection on my reading capacity than anything else.

Worth a read. Ill be keeping an eye out for her next one 1 0

'The Grownup' has a incredibly captivating intro but quickly drops off after the first third. The 'twist' was kind of neat but nothing to write home about. The night before finishing this novella I had watched 'The Other's' which I found gripping from start to finish so 'The Grownup', as far as ghost stories goes was a bit disappointing. 6/10 1 0

I did remove the books that had been uploaded already from the CSV and try to just work with ones that didn't upload but it didn't work

the logs say isbn are missing
are you sure you are uploading the correct file ?

for example :

Missing isbn for line with goodreadsId 49552, title The Stranger and author Albert Camus, import it yourself manually

What is the corresponding line in the csv ?

Also are you launching several instances of jelu on the same sqlite database ?
Or are you launching several imports in parallel ?
The locked databse logs never occured to me

I’ve now spent several hours trying to import my Goodreads export into Jelu. Unfortunately, without success.
Could you perhaps provide an example of the header structure and the required formats?
That would certainly make it easier for many interested users to get started.

Hi, there are sample files in previous issues, for example there :
#81 (comment)

Unless goodreads changed the number of columns for the default export again, you just need to select a default file and to upload it to jelu.
Also, be aware that only lines with isbn will be imported.
Import happens in two passes, first the csv is parsed and stored in DB, and thene a second pass processes the lines and tries to import or match with books already in DB.

Please provide the installation method, app version and logs of the import.
