Problem Description
I'm using Gear Lever to integrate the app with the system and keep it updated, so I don't need a separately created shortcut for the application in .local/share/applications/*.desktop, it actually breaks the workflow because I can't disable neither SimpMusic nor Gear Lever from creating the shortcut, so I always have a duplicate.
Proposed Solution
In my opinion we should be allowed the option here to add (opt-in) the shortcut, rather than not to add it through Gear Lever, since its purpose is to centralize the management of Appimages.
So maybe a prompt on first startup asking if we want to install the shortcut with yes/no buttons would be good, I'm guessing, since the app keeps creating the shortcut on startup even after removing it manually, it should also save this decision in the preferences of the app under a "Manage desktop shortcut" entry.
Alternative Solutions
Don't create application shortcut at all
Additional Context
No response
