The citations advice is out of date and it would be good to provide some canonical examples. We also want to point people towards tskit paper.
Something like
- If you use msprime through the Python API please cite it and tskit using something like "We ran simulations using msprime version 1.x.x [cite msprime 1.0 paper] in conjunction with tskit version 1.x.x [cite tskit paper]"
- If you use the DTWF model, please also cite the [DTWF paper]
- If you use the FixedPedigree model, please also cite the [pedigree paper]
- If you use the SMC(k) model please also cite the [forthcoming SMCK paper]
- If you use Demes to work with demographic models please cite [demes paper]
- If you use the mspms interface, please cite the [original paper]
