This repository contains field notes, technical observations, and lessons learned from overseas construction machinery projects, especially related to machine control kits and intelligent guidance systems.
Case 1: Why machine control kits (excavator, dozer, grader) calibration worked in China but failed overseas
Initial assumption
- Calibration issues and accuracy degradation were mainly caused by algorithm inefficiency.
What actually happened on site
- Multiple rounds of calibration were performed.
- After calibration, accuracy was still not ideal (not reaching the guaranteed ~3 cm level).
- For dozer and grader auto-control, some units showed obvious waviness during operation.
Key mistake
- Over-attributing accuracy issues to algorithm problems.
- Underestimating the impact of hardware instability (IMU mounting, GNSS receiver performance, vibration, site conditions).
