Lessons Learned from Overseas Engineering Projects

This repository contains field notes, technical observations, and lessons learned from overseas construction machinery projects, especially related to machine control kits and intelligent guidance systems.

Case 1: Why machine control kits (excavator, dozer, grader) calibration worked in China but failed overseas

Initial assumption

  • Calibration issues and accuracy degradation were mainly caused by algorithm inefficiency.

What actually happened on site

  • Multiple rounds of calibration were performed.
  • After calibration, accuracy was still not ideal (not reaching the guaranteed ~3 cm level).
  • For dozer and grader auto-control, some units showed obvious waviness during operation.

Key mistake

  • Over-attributing accuracy issues to algorithm problems.
  • Underestimating the impact of hardware instability (IMU mounting, GNSS receiver performance, vibration, site conditions).
